Art of Problem Solving Releases Geometry Text for Gifted Math Students
ALPINE, Calif. - March 06 - A new kind of geometry book challenges gifted middle and high school students. Art of Problem Solving (AoPS Incorporated) released its Introduction to Geometry textbook this week. The book guides students through a progression in which they themselves develop many of the fundamental tools of geometry and problem solving. Challenging problems in the book often come from premier math contests such as MATHCOUNTS and the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC).
Richard Rusczyk co-wrote two unique volumes called The Art of Problem Solving that have sold tens of thousands of copies. As founder of and instructor at the online Art of Problem Solving School (www.artofproblemsolving.com), he has taught many of the nation's brightest math students including USA Mathematical Olympiad winners, International Mathematical Olympiad medalists, Clay Academy Junior Fellows, and the 2006 Siemens-Westinghouse Competition winner.
At a time when major employers point toward a lack of quality math students and problem solvers produced by American schools, Art of Problem Solving challenges students to explore deeper mathematical ideas and problem solving principles. This modern curriculum promises to broaden the horizons of students who face new opportunities in a world increasingly dominated by computers.
Art of Problem Solving books can be purchased directly from their website (www.artofproblemsolving.com). Their website also includes many free resources for avid students of mathematics including forums, articles, and a blog community. Instructors from the online school occasionally host free classes aimed at top middle and high school math students. The forums have become the online home of thousands of the world's top middle and high school contest problem solvers as well as many undergraduate and graduate students, parents, and teachers.
